#1 The First Great Leader I Ever Knew
This is my dad, Charlie. ❤️
As I thought about launching my weekly Melon Musings, this felt like the perfect place to start.
Before my 30 years in HR, before Melon Partners and before all the conversations I've had about leadership, culture and employee engagement, there was my dad.
When I think about it now, he was the first great leader I ever knew.
He didn't run a business or hold a leadership title, but he created something far more important ;
A home where we all felt safe.
A culture where we felt valued.
An environment where we felt listened to, supported and encouraged to be ourselves.
Isn't that exactly what the very best leaders do?
Perhaps leadership isn't as complicated as we sometimes make it.
Perhaps it's simply about creating environments where people feel they belong and can thrive.
I suspect that's why I'm so passionate about helping businesses create great cultures and engaged teams today.
